A Bushveldt Sunrise from a Bus

Sitting on the bus, traveling to work yesterday morning, I could not resist taking some photos of the sun climbing out from behind the Bushveldt horizon, hopefully to warm the day to a liveable temperature.  We have had unusually cold weather over the past week or so as the condensation on the windows shows.

I am no photographer and my camera is not a photographers camera either.  Yet I thought I would post these photos anyway, firstly to show you all how the sun rose over the Bushveldt on the shortest day of the year and also how very cold the shortest day of the year started for us.

This photo was taken at about 06H50.

A few minutes later...

...and again a few minutes later.

The profile in the photo belongs to a Sergeant Major who works with me and he looks very stern and serious, does'nt he?  Actually, once he wakes up properly he is a very pleasant, humorous and naughty guy and I want to thank him for allowing me to publish him so blatantly.

I for one, am very happy that 21 June has come and gone.  Now I can start looking forward to getting up in daylight again and seeing skies like this.

Roll on Summer....

It was our longest day yesterday, so I suppose we're headed for winter now :-(. Your sunrise looks really dramatic though, much more interesting than what we had yesterday.
